Refurbishment of pregnancy loss room at Hervey Bay Hospital's Maternity Ward

On June 26th 2019 our beautiful daughter Jasmine Lily Van Nimwegen was born sleeping at Hervey Bay Hospital.

The care and support we received was absolutely wonderful and our midwife that looked after us and Jasmine is one of the most caring and inspiring young women I've ever met. We were lucky to meet her even though it was the most heartbreaking situation Jasmines father and I had ever been in.

In memory of our daughter I would like to give something back.
Sadly this happens too often and I would like to help newly bereaved parents by helping fund a much needed refurbishment of the pregnancy loss room in the maternity ward at Hervey Bay Hospital.

I went to hospital at 4pm on the 23rd of June to start my scheduled induction, when we arrived we were nervous but so happy, we were going to meet our little girl soon.
Everything changed in the next 5 minutes, the nurse put the heart rate monitor on my belly as they normally do to check bubs heartbeat, she had trouble finding it, I thought to myself 'oh she's just hiding' next thing I knew the Dr came in with a portable scan machine, as soon as Jasmine came up on the screen I knew something was wrong, there was no movement, there was no heartbeat, our little girl had died in my belly just before we got to meet her.
I went back to hospital on the 25th and our daughter was born on the 26th at 11:20am, she was absolutely perfect.
We spent the rest of the day with her in a small clinical room, the memories of that room are not so nice so its my wish to make a better room for parents to spend that precious time with their baby in a beautiful homely environment, away from the rest of the ward so they don't have to endure the heartbreak of seeing and hearing other happy families with their babies.
