This is a community fundraiser to support our friend Lola, who is a local and familiar face in the Hamilton south area, and spends a fair bit of time out front of Nina’s IGA on Beaumont st. Lola is in need of financial support, as she has recently had to organise funeral arrangements for several family members, as well as navigating some legal stresses of her own. Lola has given Food Not Bombs Newcastle permission to host this fundraiser on her behalf, with all funds being paid directly into her bank account. Several of us have come to know and become friends with Lola over the years, and she is a valuable supporter of our FnB crew and the work we do. anyone who knows Lola would recognise her as a beautiful community presence, is deeply caring and holds a lot of space and role of a guardian for her family and those around her. Lola has a big heart and has so much to give, but like all of us, also needs support sometimes and should be able to reach out and ask for help.
