Mama Red & the Dark Blues - Music Industry Fundraiser

Mama Red & the Dark Blues would like to thank all of the incredible friends and fans who continue to come to our shows and support original music.

We are truly grateful.

Like many of you, we have friends and colleagues across the music community who are struggling hard at this time, having been affected be the recent devastating WA bushfires, or by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

So, we would love to ask if you would help us to help our community. How can we do that?

We’re so glad you asked!

Mama Red & the Dark Blues will be donating a significant portion of our artist fee from our Thurs 25th March Ellington Jazz Club gig (see details below) to struggling WA musicians and the venues and arts workers that support the arts and the live music industry. We'd love to ask you all to add to our total, to raise funds for artists in need.

We know how important and necessary it has been to keep our community safe at this time, but our industry has been slow to recover, as capacity and financial issues have made it difficult for venues to continue programming live music, and with Jobkeeper soon to end we fear this might become even harder.

While there are a number of fundraisers happening across the country, as original Western Australian artists ourselves, we wanted to provide you an opportunity to direct your funds specifically to WA artists if you choose to do so.

If you donate into this cause we’ll make sure your generous donation goes to the Artist Relief Fund WA, to provide targeted financial assistance to WA arts workers experiencing severe hardship.

We are extremely grateful to all of you who support Mama Red & the Dark Blues and other local original musicians, and to The Ellington Jazz Club and other WA owned and operated live music venues, so this is just one small thing that we can do, to pass on some of the great support our audiences have given us over the years to those doing it hard.

Some come along and join Mama Red & the Dark Blues as we play and sing our hearts out for our industry.
