I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us by donating so far privately to help us with the task of having to move to a new studio AND renovating costs. 2020 was tough. Dealing with four months of no face to face classes; rent needing to be paid, council and water rates plus power bills, hasn’t been easy, appreciating we weren't the only ones who couldn't work during this time. We were quite lucky in the end being able to return to dancing in July. This was not easy though. Lots of lobbying the sports minister, months of meetings we were finally able to resume classes, at a reduced capacity but we are dancing! Then, we had to move out of our ATOS castle after the Landlord wasn’t willing to negotiate rental assistance during the pandemic as mandated by the prime minister. In the end, even though reluctantly agreed to assistance through costly mediation, the Landlord decided the only way to renew the lease was to put our rent up by 150%. We had 3 weeks to move. We were lucky to find our new space. However the the challenges and the unexpected costs (solicitors, real estate, council, carpenters, flooring people) has been mammoth! We knew we could do it. But we also knew during a pandemic it was going to take all the energy we had to get this through... it’s been a battle.
