Sacha's 2020 NYE Shave for a Cure

2020 has been difficult for everyone in various ways- the superpowers really didn't discriminate.
Despite the global pandemic, cancer did not go into lockdown, isolation or quarantine.
The world as we knew it was turned on its head - becoming topsy turvey, upside down and back to front. That's why I decided to shave my head first and then fundraise. Nothing like going in head-first to 2021!

It's been tough year financially, so if you can afford to give a few dollars or cents, that would be much appreciated but also understand that many loved ones have lost jobs and/or living off job-keeper.

Throughout 2020 and still grieving the loss of mum to non-smoking related lung cancer, I continued to see loved ones impacted by cancer – whether it was a shock new diagnosis, the ups and downs of ongoing treatment, news that no more treatment options were available. My heart broke for loved ones lost and those not being able to hold their loved ones hand or stroke their hair in their final moments. My heart shattered for those grieving in isolation and unable to attend a funeral or a celebration of life. Such a harrowing and heartbreaking year for many.

Many people have been too scared to visit their doctors to get symptoms checked – so unfortunately we will see a huge surge of cancer diagnosis in the coming future. Medical research, access to supportive care and credible information is now more important than ever.

I am fundraising for medical research investment into lung and blood cancer to secure the future of my family and friends.

Together, let’s try and increase 5 year survival rates for all cancers so we can spend more time with our loved ones.
