The NSW Government has just announced it will phase out our world-famous 1100-passenger double-ended Freshwater-class ferries, starting early 2021. The plan is to replace them with 400-passenger commuter-style, faster Emerald-class ferries, but we already have a great fast commuter service from NRMA Fast Ferries. Large ferries have served Manly since 1850 and are a major tourist attraction. The fleet must be kept in service.
We are raising funds to run a community campaign to:
1. Cancel the decision
2. Ensure the scheduled maintenance program for these ferries continues
3. Call for a proper Fleet Replacement Plan which included double-ended
1000+ passenger ferries on the Manly route.
4. Investigate converting the classic ferries to electric engines.
We need your financial support to SAVE OUR MANLY FERRIES!
