Paula and I met when she started Zumba with me in 2015. We spent a lot of time outside of the classes and she has always been a joy for me and others to be around. Paula has been there for me as a friend and like a big sister, in the worst and best of times. Her heart is as enormous as so many people put together in this world and she deserves all the support we can give. She is one of the most selfless people I know and it is the bare minimum I can do on my part. Now, more than ever before is time for us to help her as she needs to put herself first! I hope we can come together and support her during this cause. Here is a little bit of her journey with her fight against cancer.... Back in August this year, Paula had a breast reduction because of chronic back pain for 3 years due to previous surgery, which is when they found a lump and removed it for testing. The test was positive for breast cancer! Since then she has had regular appointments and treatments including a special 3D Mammogram and ultrasound with 7 spectators as the machine was new to Australia. She was the 1st patient and she was an odd case of how this cancer was found. The doctors were concerned with the ultrasound images of the lump node and requested to do an urgent needle biopsy. Tests again, positive. Then an operation for a full lymph dissection, 2 of the 11 removed had cancer and 1 started to grow out aggressively with the concern this has spread further. After a bone scan, the doctor saw bone cancer! Fortunately, after visiting the oncologist, they found it was only arthritis, then she went in for a CT body scan and the results came back clear! End of October... Chemo commenced! From there...all the chemo side effects begin... .....bit spacey .....a bit hectic as red blood cells super low .... ups and downs ....mouth ulcers ...overwhelming What's next? More blood tests, Possible blood transfusions, Regular needles (via bone marrow) Another 15 Chemo treatments "I’m sure the positive vibes and life received has helped me. After losing my dad to metastatic cancer, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would happen to me! It’s been an emotional roller coaster thus far." - Paula, 41 She also says "GO GET YOUR TETAS (TITTIES) CHECKED!" haha, she sends this message to all women & men. It's better to be safe than wait until it's too late to do anything.
