We have set ourselves the challenge: 10 women each running or walking 10kms per day, for 10 consecutive days, totalling 1000kms distance, from the 5th - 14th of November!
I remember the day in October 2019 that my mother called me to say that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive and rare breast cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3 Triple Negative). She has always been very fit and lives a healthy lifestyle, so this came as a shock to her initially.
I knew in my heart that she would make it through this great challenge. She decided to take a holistic approach on her path to wellness, incorporating both western methods (chemotherapy and radiation therapy) and a range of complimentary approaches, and she also followed a recommended fitness program (walking, aerobic exercise, and weight training) throughout her treatment and post recovery.
10 months later she is recovering brilliantly. But her journey doesn't finish here, she is still on The Road to Recovery, continuing her holistic approach back to wellness!
Help us to reach our goal of raising $10,000 for the incredible Cancer Division at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. They perform internationally significant medical research by contributing to knowledge on prevention and treatment of diseases including cancer, leading to healthier, longer and better lives for people. www.menzies.utas.edu.au
