Food Money for Nikolina

Nikolina is a beloved friend from my college years. She studied Opera at the University of Oregon and Then the University of Arizona. She has worked as a singer and a teacher.

10 years ago she began her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She has been figuring out how to navigate this illness which seems to create different challenges for each who has it.

Her current situation is that she is back living in her town and country of origin, Zagreb, Croatia. She lives with her elderly and infirm mother. She is in a situation of providing for both of them and during this time of isolation is now finding it impossible to make ends meet. She is mostly in a wheelchair now and struggling with the deep fatigue caused by the illness.

Those who knew her prior to this struggle know that she bounded with energy and enthusiasm, a bright star and I am so sad to learn of her situation.

She is reaching out for help during a time that is presenting challenges for many. Hers was already a challenge, and has now gotten worse. She had been relying on a public house (charitable food kitchen) which has now been shut down due to COVID-19. Also, the food that was being offered there was not of a quality helpful to fighting her illness.

If enough of us contribute at least something, maybe she will make it though the time of isolation a bit easier and actually be able to buy food that is more healthful which will help her struggle with MS.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and whether it's $10 or $100, it's worth doing. She could use more than the $400, I am sure, but if we can raise at least that it will grant her some relief during this difficult time. If we weren't neck deep in our own problems, we would do more, but I will kick in $50 to get us started. Today, April 17 is also her birthday!!! Happy Birthday, Nikolina!
