The Philippines has been in complete lockdown for 2 weeks so far to try and stop the spread of COVID 19. For the many children, youth and families that Bahay Tuluyan works with, who normally barely survive day-to-day, this lockdown is devastating. They cannot earn and have no money left. Government support is not reaching them and is insufficient. People are hungry and cannot feed their children.
At this stage the lockdown will continue for at least another 2 weeks and will only get harder for these families, especially if the virus keeps spreading.
We hope to be able to provide food relief packages to 300 families each week in the extremely vulnerable communities where we work for the next 3 weeks to tide these families over until the lockdown ends. Our brave frontliners will make sure the families get this much needed help. Your support will allow us to make it happen. Please help us mitigate this crisis.
Bahay Tuluyan is an NGO accredited by the government in the Philippines working closely with its partner in Australia, BTPA. Since 1987 we have worked with some of the most vulnerable children, youth and families in Metro Manila and nearby areas. For more information about us visit www.bahaytuluyan.org
