Hello, on April 26 I had planned to compete in the Ross Marathon. Unfortunately thanks to 'Rona and social distancing regulations the event got cancelled - but rather than let all of my training go to waste I will still be running a marathon on that day - in my front yard!
Each lap of my yard is 50 metres.. which means I will be running 840 laps for a full 42km marathon.
I have decided to donate my entry fee (plus a little extra for petrol money, food etc.) to Foodbank Tasmania, and thought I would pass around the donation basket while i'm at it for anyone else that has a few dollars to spare.
If, like me, the recent images of empty supermarkets and huge job losses across the country have been a little anxiety provoking, spare a thought for the many Australians who struggle with food insecurity everyday. Foodbank provides food relief programs such as community pantries and dining halls, mobile soup vans, emergency hampers and breakfast or lunch programs in schools. With the growing COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, emergency relief services like Foodbank will be relied upon more than ever in the coming months..
Funds donated to the My Cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to Foodbank Tas. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
