Devastatingly, many Muslims in Iran consider dogs to be dirty and thus many strays are shot, injected with acid, poisoned, burnt, drowned and killed by local government officials.
The above link shows the extraordinary efforts of this shelter in rescuing and rehabilitating abused and tortured animals despite their very limited means and resources.
The incredible people at this shelter are doing all they can for these poor innocent animals but sadly the number of abandoned cats and dogs is overwhelming. They are struggling to feed and house these animals and are in desperate need of funds in order to properly care for and treat the injured and to expand their rescue relief efforts.
They are currently caring for over 50 dogs and 16 cats in a tiny 500 sqm area as that's all they can afford. They are fighting just to continue operating as the landlord does not want animals there and is trying to shut them down. Donations will help them to move to another block where they can expand and provide adequate housing and care for all those rescued.
Unfortunately, due to sanctions, the availability of any medicine, let alone veterinary medicine is very scarce, especially for stray animals. Funds will help to send over much needed supplies from our generous vet in Australia who is willing to help.
Any contribution would be much appreciated and together it will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of these helpless animals.
