On 1 March 2020 I am going to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. I am raising money for the Freedom project, named after ‘Uhuru Peak’ on Mt Kilimanjaro, Uhuru is Swahili for ‘Freedom’. It’s a small project which supports women and families in the local village of Marangu in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro, supplying pigs, chickens, grain and building materials. I'd like to be able to contribute to their families and help by supporting them to live a more sustainable lifestyle. With high unemployment, 68% live below the poverty line. The project will also sponsor schooling, university, and other educational opportunities for trekking porters & families.
