Our team at Sirius People has been saddened and horrified to hear about the devastation caused by the 2019/2020 bush fires. A state of emergency has been declared in both Victoria and New South Wales, with more than 5 million hectares (12.85 million acres) of land burned across the country at the time of posting. To date, more than 1,400 homes have been destroyed, 19 people have died and half a billion wild animals are also dead, according to the Associated Press. While the fires remain ongoing, we wanted to show our support and solidarity with the brave firefighters who have spent the last couple of months tirelessly fighting these bushfires, and the affected families who have had to evacuate.
