About

Throw Away Planet

Damon Pearson is an Artivist who feels he has no choice but to dedicate his life to protecting our precious planet. For the last 5 years he has traveled Australia actively joining protests and working with like minded souls to raise awareness of the damage caused by corporate greed and a society in the grips of an unsustainable capitalist mentality.

About ten years ago, as part of his peaceful approach to promoting social change Damon created the first Throw Away Planet. The Throw Away Planets are a series of paintings created in response to the way humans are consuming and devouring all the resources of the world.

Each person who catches a Throw Away Planet has the choice to save that planet or throw it away…. It’s all symbolic …. Whether stuck on a fridge, sewn on a jacket, or in a picture frame… whatever creative way that planet is showcased, its display becomes a political and social statement.

The extremely limited resources that Damon has at his disposal are consumed very quickly by his dedication to serving the planet.

Already in 2019 Damon has attended:

Multiple school student strike rallies in Adelaide SA and Bellingen NSW
The sacred Djap Warrung birthing trees protection embassy on the Western highway near Ararat VIC
The forest protectors in Kinglake VIC
The logging protests in the upper reaches of the Kalang Valley
And has recently returned from the proposed Adani Carmichael Coal mine site in North Queensland.

All along this journey Damon has been true to his concept of painting and tossing planets away to receptive Planet Savers. This conceptual art collaboration reinforces the idea that each artwork has its own story, and our one planet is precious.

Many of these unique stories can found on his Facebook page “A Throw Away Planet”.

So why not throw yourself a planet, toss one at a friend, or chuck one at a politician and become part of the story? Not everyone is able to get out in the front lines to fight for change, so consider making a contribution to someone who is dedicated to making a difference.

All proceeds raised will go towards Damon’s “Artivism” allowing him to continue his important work.

Some people of note who have caught these planets include:

Dr David Suzuki, Sir Paul Mc Cartney, Kinky Freidman, John Butler, Neil Murray, Elon Musk and ABC broadcasters Michael Cathcart, Ed Ayers, Robin Williams, Lynne Malcolm as well as the entire cast of Sean Mikallefs Mad As Hell not to mention a number of well known politicians.

Each piece is unique and hand painted on recycled canvas or cotton by Damon in acrylic paint so it is washable.
