About
This cause is to help the family of the recently deceased Kumanytjayi Corby from Mt. Liebig pay for funeral and memorial costs. Funerals present a challenge to remote Indigenous communities because high costs.
Kumanytjayi grew up in Haasts Bluff and lived in Mt. Liebig, both remote Indigenous communities in Central Australia. He left this earth suddenly at the age of 39 and is survived by his mother and father, wife and three young children. He was their main source of income and a proud Luritja man who loved his family, the land he grew up on and his job. Kumanytjayi was employed for 10 years with MacDonnell Regional Council's(MRC) Community Safety(Night Patrol) program-MacSafe. He was the longest serving member(10 years) in the entire program and was referred to as, the MacSafe philosopher because of his deep insights and thoughtful approach to keeping the remote indigenous community he called home, safe and healthy. He would call his co-workers just to talk about the weather, tell you which way the wind was coming from and to see how you were doing. We all cherished these phone calls.
Before we talk about the money story and what the funds will be used for, I want to thank you for your time in reading the campaign and if you cannot donate we just ask that you send his family thoughts of love and support.
