The way we're treating our planet and ourselves just won't cut it

For everyone who's ever met me, I've always had long hair. Now I've decided it's time for someone else to show it off. I'm cutting my hair to raise money for two causes I think are worthwhile and effective.

World Wide Fund for Nature tackles many environmental issues and effects on wildlife because the way we're treating the earth and all of the intricate ecosystems that sustain us is not going to cut it in the future. Wildlife medicine is a passion of mine and we need to look after our planet as well as everyone around us. 

I'm also raising money for Beyond Blue because mental health issues, especially in the veterinary medicine profession, are so extensive in society and impact our ability to help each other and the Earth.

I'm cutting 36cm off my hair on Friday the 13th of September (in just over 1 week's time!) straight after my Clinical Commencement Ceremony celebrating entering clinical rotations of my veterinary medicine course. My hair will be donated to Variety Children's Charity where a child or adolescent who has lost their hair from a long-term medical condition can wear a wig with pride. Loss of hair can have a deep psychological impact on someone, especially during childhood and adolescence. The money from the wigs will also help other children in need.

This campaign will go on for longer than 1 week so feel free to please keep donating even after I make the cut. Any donation no matter how big or small is appreciated and will go towards supporting two great causes!
