Bonnibel Benson and the Plant That Wasn’t Hers is a short film with a queer storyline, that delves into what causes a person to “move on”. Written and directed by Talia Newton, and funded by students! So if you’d like to see this production made to the best of our potential, or have a personal connection to anyone on this set... please donate!
We are attempting to create a story that showcases local Brisbane talent from multiple directions of culture, using local bands to record our soundtrack, local artists to showcase their paintings on our walls and local talent undertaking our characters.
For a better sense of story: Bonnie has a plant, belonging to her ex Ruby. Ruby has asked for the plant to be returned, but Bonnie has other ideas. Talia wanted to place importance on lgbtq characters, being a queer storyteller herself, without the film entirely revolving around their queer identity.
Your money would go towards our quirky characters gorgeous costumes, aid to creating realistic sets and help us close down a road for a slow motion running sequence! A very ambitious task!
We are putting our heart and soul into this film, as it’s such an important story to tell and will be our first try at a film that we can use to better our future careers. Even $5 helps, or simply sharing the word!
