My amazing, 14-year-old friend Rafe Bowman was diagnosed with brain cancer at the end of last year and hasn’t been freed from it yet.
Rafe is a kind, thoughtful and gentle person. He loves Japanese anime, but instead of being able to enjoy catching wild Pokémon and jumping like a pro in Flip Out, he has been undergoing treatments to try and reduce the size of the tumor in his brain. The tumor not only affects his physical abilities, but the various treatments he’s going through make him very sick.
Brain cancer is a horrible disease that scientists are yet to find a cure for, and because of this, patients have only got a small chance of surviving. But I want to change that, I want to help researchers find a cure, and I will do that by raising money.
I am cutting my hair off to raise money for the Cure for Brain Cancer Foundation. My hair will then be donated to be made into a wig for children without hair.
The Mayor of Parkes, Cr Ken Keith OAM, will be cutting my hair at my school assembly on the 29th of July which is Beanies For Brain Cancer Week.
I don’t ask for much, but it would mean a lot to me if you could donate some money so that there will be a cure and that people with brain cancer can have a second chance.
