As most of you know I am volunteering for 6 weeks in the maternity department at St Elizabeth Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. This hospital provides free healthcare to its patients but is extremely under resourced. The staff do the best they can to provide care and safely deliver babies but they are constantly running out of basic supplies such as gloves and syringes. There is 1 thermometer and 1 blood pressure machine for the entire department. The staff are extremely resourceful and never complain. The matron has asked if I could fundraise to assist in replacing the 3 beds on the labour ward. They are rusted and the mattresses are worn out.
