Hi, I'm Claire, an Australian based, Irish Optometrist.
As some of you know, I have had an Amazing opportunity to venture to Nepal in October this year, to trek to remote areas in the Everest region, providing valuable eye care to the sherpa people in the Himalayan mountains.
Gokyo Ri is a 5,357m high peak in the Khumbu region of the Nepal Himalayas. It is located on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal and the Himalayas.
I have always felt strongly about helping people that are in need all my life. Loving all things eyes, this was an opportunity not to be missed. Getting the name 'Mrs Activities' by friends & family, I love all things outdoors.
Cycling, running, hiking and anything to keep me off the sofa, I have jumped at this physical and mental challenge.
It should be a basic human right for everyone to have access to good health and eye care, and I am really looking forward to using my skills and expertise to help areas with such limited resources that we all take for granted.
Eyes4Everest is a charity that has been set up by Optometrist Shaun Chang in 2014 after he witnessed first hand the limited access these people had to eyecare. Children struggling to see the board, adults going blind from conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, UV damage and diabetes.

ALL proceeds go towards building a sustainable eye clinic in the Himalayan communities, for continued future eye missions and to provide education for local people to tackable this problem of preventable blindness. How much would YOU pay for your eye sight?
** For every $500 raised us trekkers will also receive tokens for luxuries like a HOT shower.... Bliss!**
Donations greatly appreciated x x
