Last year Kaylah was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, a Iife long gastrointestinal disorder that is often unpredictable with significant variations in the degree and pattern of symptoms.
The month of May is Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness month so we are raising awareness and hoping to make a difference to create a future where noone lives with or suffers from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.
The chronic nature of the disorder impacts on a person’s emotional, physical and social wellbeing. Patients may also develop complications that are potentially life threatening, with links between IBD and increased risks of colorectal cancer as well as the adverse side effects of treatment.
Crohn’s and Colitis Australia receives very little government funding and relies on the generosity of the community to raise much needed funds so we can continue to provide support services and invest in research. This has support includes Kaylah and other children suffering to attend the very first Kids Fun Day held at Wild Life Sydney Zoo.
Since 1985, Crohn’s & Colitis Australia has been empowering the 180,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) – to live fearlessly.
