Hello! My name is Riya and I’m a final year optometry student at QUT in Brisbane and am super excited to be a part of the 2019 Eyes4Everest Annapurna Base Camp Mission! In September, I will be venturing off to Nepal to trek and provide invaluable eye care services to remote Nepalese communities in the Himalayan mountains. Eyes4Everest is an Australian-based charity organisation, which aims to provide primary eye care to mountain communities of Nepal. ALL proceeds raised will go to providing sustainable eye care to these communities, including training local optometrists and hospital staff. These donations will also mean that I will get a chance to earn small perks on the trip such as hot showers, chocolate bars and toilet paper, so it’s a win win for everyone!
