Late last month we said goodbye to an amazing individual. Dad was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend and went peacefully after a long battle with prostate and pancreatic cancer.
What was most important to Dad was being at home, comfortable and surrounded by family to the end. He was granted that wish - all made possible by he incredible support received from his team of home hospice doctors, carers and social workers that were on hand 24 hours a day as we needed.
This charitable service (HCA Hospice Care - hca.org.sg) is made available free of charge to thousands of terminal patients through the generous donations of individuals. They care for all - regardless of age, nationality, religious or socio-economic status - providing comfort and respect to patients who otherwise have lost all hope and dignity.
As a token of our gratitude, our family will be running 38km in the Great Ocean Road Running Festival on May 18 & 19 to raise donations for HCA.
In loving memory and in lieu of flowers, we would love any support you might be able to offer to provide comfort to others who are similarly taken from us too soon.
What a great cause Lin, best of luck with the run. We’ll be cheering you on in spirit! The Bland family. Xx
