Tess Runs NYC Marathon for Domestic Violence Awareness & White Ribbon Australia

As a survivor of domestic violence I have made it my passion and mission to raise awareness about the issues that women are faced with today not only in Australia but worldwide. White Ribbon is my chosen charity as the work they are doing to end mens violence against women is truly changing the path for women, this includes better education for men and children about respect for women, the different types of domestic violence women experience, standing up for whats right and speaking up if you see something is not right. This foundation allowed me to put all of my pain, fear and of course drive for wanting a better life for all women into a cause that is now very close to my heart. Since 2015 I have been able to support, mentor and educate women who are experiencing or have previously experienced domestic violence by sharing my story and the vision of White Ribbon. I received an email about the "Run for Respect" and decided that running the New York City Marathon was something I wanted, needed and had to do. I will be sharing my training journey on social media platforms and hope that like minded women, supporters & other survivors will help me in my journey to raising money for White Ribbon so they can continue to raise awareness and encourage their vision "A nation that respects women, in which every woman lives in safety, free from all forms of men’s abuse".
