When Anthony started playing soccer at 5 years of age, we were shocked to see how he had a special talent at such a young age. His skills with the ball were pretty amazing and still continue to be to this day.
When Anthony turned 7 this year, we took him to participate in a 3 day Barcelona soccer camp in Brisbane. Anthony really impressed his coaches and was given the nickname "Little Messi", which he loved as Messi is his favourite player. Whilst there, Anthony was scouted and was asked to join the Barcelona Academy.
We were blown away with excitement for our son. After a couple of years of watching him play and grow with his soccer skills, our thoughts about him were affirmed. He has an amazing talent.
Anthony joined the Barcelona Academy in Brisbane in September 2018. It has been a bit difficult for us as we live in Darwin NT and we have had to travel back and forth for training.
On December 18, 2018, Anthony was invited by the Barcelona Academy in Brisbane to represent U8's in the VIII Barca Academy World Cup in Barcelona, Spain in April 2019. The Barca Academy World Cup runs from April 15 to April 18th 2019, in which Anthony will play in 6 games. There will be 47 Barca Academies / 23 Countries / 4 Age groups and over 1800 players who will come together for this amazing experience. Whilst there, the academy will be taking the children to "Camp Nou" to visit the iconic ground of where famous talented soccer players such as Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique have played.
This is Anthony's ultimate dream and we are so thankful and honoured that our 7 year old son has been asked to represent the Barcelona Academy in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
While we are currently reeling with both excitement and nerves, we have to keep in mind that these types of experiences aren't for free. The cost to get Anthony and one parent to Barcelona is not cheap and we would love to make this dream for Anthony become a reality. We are asking for donations to help our "Little Messi" achieve his dream of playing for Barcelona in Barcelona.
Please help Anthony get to Spain to represent the Brisbane Barca Academy. Please help make our little 7 year old boy's dream become a reality.
