As you may or may not be aware, on the 28th of December 2018, my beautiful mother-in-law, Jill Notley-Smith, passed away.
She was only 60.
She suffered from two horrible forms of dementia: Early Onset Alzheimer's, and Lewy Body Dementia.
Diagnosed 3 years prior, at the end of 2015.
Dementia Australia was incredibly supportive and a fantastic resource for my in-laws. They attended group seminars and weekly meetings in order to learn how to best support Jill, how her disease would progress, and how to keep her at home for as long as possible.
She lived at home, under the care of her long term partner and full time carer, right up until the very end.
In honour of her, I would love your support in raising funds for such a helpful and wonderful organisation. To prompt things along a little, at the end of March I am going to SHAVE OFF ALL OF MY HAIR.
That's right, these long locks will be gone, and I encourage you to chip in some money, even if it's just a little bit.
Dementia is currently incurable, comes in over a hundred different forms, and is projected to affect more and more Australians in the coming years. Every little bit helps in looking for a cure, and allowing the Organisation to run groups and seminars for sufferers and their families, as well as give them access to key resources and services to help them along their journey.
Dementia Australia supports people living with dementia and their families through advocacy, education, support services and research. We are committed to keeping the spotlight on dementia as the public health challenge of the 21st century.
