I have decided that in June (2nd), I will be running the Traralgon marathon for charity - a distance of 42.195km. The charity that I am fundraising for is called SolarBuddy, which aims to aid alleviate poverty by providing simple, solar-powered lights to impoverished communities that otherwise would not have access to electricity. I really enjoy running and am able to run a distance of about 30km currently, so I believe a marathon is within my reach with enough training.
I have chosen SolarBuddy as a charity as I like their simple, direct yet highly effective approach to the issue of poverty and environmental sustainability. Sadly, a large proportion of communities have no source of light in their homes, meaning that once the sun goes down, a family’s ability to work or a child’s ability to study is compromised. In some communities which can afford kerosene lamps, up to 40% of a family’s income can be spent on fuel - the fumes causing 4.3 million deaths every year from indoor air pollution. Simple, portable, solar lights provide a safe, environmentally sustainable source of light, allowing life to continue after dark. These lights are also partially constructed by students as part of a STEM and global issues program for schools.
I would really appreciate if you could donate to my fundraising page, even if it’s just pocket change - even something small could radically change a family’s life, educate children and help us move towards a more equitable and sustainable world.

TL;DR: What: I’m running the Traralgon marathon (42.195km). When: 2nd of June. Why: to fundraiser for the charity SolarBuddy, which provide solar lights to impoverished communities (also as a personal challenge). How can I help: donate to the link above or share the post.
SolarBuddy's vision is to illuminate the futures of all children. One of the biggest obstacles we face is extreme energy poverty. It is a complex challenge, impacting the health and well-being, educational outcomes, and economic stability of the communities experiencing it as well as our environment

You're doing well Cameron. Keep up the good work! Too little training and you won't make the finish line. Too much training and you won't make the starting line.
