About
In Mandalay, Myanmar is a shelter overflowing with street dogs and cats desperately waiting for Veterinary care.
Go Pawesome a Veterinary Volunteer Organisation is heading to Royal Heart Shelter in Mandalay this March.
Go Pawesome was founded in 2015 by Australian veterinary nurse Sarah Wexler. She was inspired by the warm and unconditional love the often sick (and always homeless) dogs and cats of Asia gave, and the lack of veterinary care they received. Sarah’s goal is to provide these loving animals with a higher quality of life through Pawesome’s volunteer programs.
Go Pawesome have arranged a small group of vets and nurses to go over to Royal Heart Shelter to desex and provide much needed medical treatment to the many street animals in Myanmar.
The Lort Smith Animal Hospital have two teams who are individually contributing their time and money to this wonderful cause. The costs that each volunteer pays covers their flights, accommodation, food, travel and a portion of the medical costs.
Together our goal is to desex 700 dogs and 500 cats over a two week period. There will also be many animals in need of wound treatment, parasite control and other medical treatment.
We have created this page as we urgently need supplies for surgery in order to achieve our goals. We must get these supplies before we go as we cannot buy these supplies in Myanmar.
Most importantly, we need sterile in-date surgical gloves and suture material which is very expensive. We need 1000 pairs of surgical gloves and A LOT of suture material. We understand our fundraising goal is high, but to put things into perspective:
A donation of $30 will enable us to purchase a box of 40 pairs of surgical gloves.
A box of suture material will enable us to desex between 20-35 animals and costs between $470-$530.
We are also desperate for flea and worming tablets and bandaging materials.
If we are lucky enough to raise enough to cover our supply needs then any remaining funds will be used to buy food for animals or donated directly to Go Pawesome for their incredible work improving the lives of animals the world.
Any amount donated, big or small, is greatly appreciated by us and the animals. We will be sure to take you along on our trip share photos and videos when we arrive at the Royal Heart animal shelter.
Thanking you from the bottom of our hearts,
Your Volunteer Vets and Nurses,
Vets: Tracy, Morag, Selma and Dilly. Nurses: Bec, Audrey, Danni, Nikky, Steve, Sasha O, Sasha B and Lucy.
You are doing amazing things!
