Initially awarded in 2014, the Sean Burns Memorial Scholarships are administered by NSW Police Legacy and awarded annually to children of deceased officers to pursue a sporting endeavor. 2019 fundraising will be in the form of a 24 hour cyclethon. Sean’s brother in law, Andrew McDermott will be competing as an individual in Revolve 24, a 24 hour endurance cycling event doing laps around Motorsport track Tailem Bend in South Australia. In 2018, Andrew completed 761km in 24 hours giving him second place. His goal in 2019 is to complete a crazy 800km in 24 hours. Fundraising will take the form of sponsorship per km. 3c per km $24 donation. 5c per km = $40 donation. 7c per km = $56 donation. 10c per km = $80 donation etc. Every dollar donated will go directly to NSW Police Legacy in support of this special cause.
Funds donated to the My Cause Gift Fund will be disbursed to Police Legacy NSW. The trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
