Xyrem for Sara

My name is Sara Touchard.
I was diagnosed with narcolepsy when I was 24 and I am now 42. It is a terrible sleeping disorder which leads to way too many dreams and no deep sleep. I also have sleep paralysis, hallucinations and terrible insomnia due to Narcolepsy.
This year I was also diagnosed with cataplexy meaning everday at 5pm I am paralysed and unable to function normally. I can not use my hands or feet and often collapse or black out if not laying down.
The medication I am currently on does not work. I am barely awake each day and am having trouble functioning in my full time job as a teacher.
Xyrem is an amazing drug not yet approved in Australia. Xyrem is readily available in America and hundreds off hospitals are doing drug trials for it. In Australia we only have 2 hospitals beginning a trial for Xyrem and at present it costs over $10,000 a year.
All people with narcolepsy that are rich have access to this medicine as it works and returns Narcoleptics back to human beings again instead of zombies. I need your help to increase the profile of the need for this mecicine in Australia and to raise money to help me to live a normal life. My life is not worth living without it as it is a constant struggle and impacts on my mental and physical health. I have broken several bones and dislocated several parts of my body due to cataplexy and am in constant pain. Some nights I can not sleep at all and I struggle just to eat and get dressed.
Please help me reach my target while I continue to fight the government to put this medicine on the pbs so all narcoleptics have the ability to lead a normal life.
