As many of you may know, I have been reading a book called 'A Mind of Your Own' by Dr Kelly Brogan, which advocates making lifestyle and dietary changes to improve mental health.
Many of you also know that I have a long history of anxiety/depression which I have been managing for many years.
On Monday 15 October I will embark on a 30 day nutritional reset diet as recommended by both Dr Brogan and my functional doctor, Rick Davids from the Health Formula.
During this period I will be eating no grains (including rice), no potatoes, no dairy and no sugar. I will only drinking water - no tea, no coffee, no alcohol etc.
The idea behind this is to hit the 'reset' button - to give my body a break from refined and processed foods and to go back to eating extremely simply.
The reset is designed to reduce inflammation, improve digestion, burn fat, identify food sensitivities, boost energy, regulate blood sugar and stabilise mood.
It's been very hard to find the 'right' time to start this process. I enjoy eating out and we have had many celebrations that require eating and drinking of late. The period between Oct 15 and 13 November seemed the best time to give it a go!
To keep me accountable, I have decided to make this challenge a fundraiser so that I am not the only one to benefit from the outcome.
I have chosen Share the Dignity as my charity of choice because I heard the charity's founder Rochelle Courteney speak at the recent AusMumpreneur Conference & Awards. I was blown away by her passion and also by the fact that there are so many girls and women living in our supposedly 1st world country who are going without the basic including sanitary protection. I could not believe the stories that she shared and hope that this fundraiser can help in some small way.
So please, if you can - support my quest for better physical and mental health whilst simultaneously helping the girls and women of Australia access basic sanitary protection and restore their dignity.
Thank you!!
