We have successfully trialed a vacuum system on our boat to clean up the banks of rivers.  Now we are taking the next step and that is to make the vacuum portable so we can roll it off the front of our barge and take it to the high tide line of beaches/islands/rivers.  The current vacumm is perfect as a permanent system on the boat but you can't move it as it weighs 240kg and has no wheels.

We've found a machine which has a retail cost of $4,390 however thanks to the kind support of Greystone Vacuums on the Sunshine Coast they are offering us a machine for half price.  Hence we need to raise just $2,200 and we will have the system ready to roll.

These vacuums will change the way we clean up beaches/islands/rivers as you can suck up so many small pieces in no time.  Cleaning large areas in the same time it would take to clean 1 square meter.

Some will question the impact on the environment and if it will do damage to the beach, and will it suck up sand?  Sand has a very low area to weight ratio and hence the vacuum actually struggles to pick up sand.  However polystyrene, plastic bottles, plastic pieces  and even glass stubbies will suck right up.  We also sort everything and hence any natural product we do remove will be returned to the area ASAP

We actually want to raise $4,500 through this campaign as that will also buy us the Quad Bike to pull it, but first and foremost is the vacuum.  When you see the vacuum cleaning you will be surprised that others haven't done this earlier.

So please donate to this fund raiser and help us continue to make our waterways, beaches and oceans clean and safe for everyone and everything.
