The North West NSW community of Coonamble is banding together to raise the spirits of their drought-stricken community.
“We’re having a Rain Dance on the 6th of October - a chance to forget about the drought for a night, catch up with friends and neighbours and wash the bulldust out of our throats. And most importantly let's dance up a storm to some great live music and break this drought!” explains chief organiser James Nalder.
The organising committee is seeking donations from anyone who wants to help to make this Rain Dance a reality. In drought times, the first thing to drop from the household budget is social events. Yet these are so important for mental health - an opportunity to check on each other and see if we're all okay. Donations to this event will keep ticket prices down, enabling cash-strapped locals to attend. A social occasion such as this, with friends and neighbours, can be just as valuable a form of drought relief as a bale of hay! $50 will sponsor one ticket, but any donation amount will be gratefully accepted and please leave Coonamble a message of support with your donation. Bigger corporate sponsors are encouraged to contact the committee directly at coonambleraindance@mail.com
