When Adam broke his leg in a motorbike accident in 1998, he was told he would never be able to run again. For an aspiring footballer, avid runner and all round sports lover, this was his worst nightmare. But this news saw the birth of many goals to achieve - the first, to run again.
After 9 operations, 2 years on and off crutches, 6 years of rehab and many visits to his surgeon with the question Can I run yet?, he was finally given the go ahead to get back out there. 20 years on, and he has competed countless triathlons, half marathons, trail runs, marathons, half and full ironman events, all with the support of amazing friends and family who have encouraged and inspired him along the way. Hour after hour, kilometre after kilometre of training has lead him to his ultimate feat - a 100km ultramarathon on the 21st July in Victoria's You Yangs National Park. Starting at 8am on Saturday, he will continuously run the 100km trail up and down hills and bush tracks with same determination, courage, resilience and heart that he approaches all his life's challenges.
Adam is dedicating this run to the many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends he has lost to cancer, and to all his friends and family who have suffered and experienced hurt and devastation at the hand of cancer. He will remember them every step of his journey. Please show your support for his quest so he can donate all funds to Cancer Council Victoria to continue their research into a cure for this disease and provide cancer sufferers, survivors and loved ones with the fantastic support services they offer across the State. Thank you and much love. xx
