Fey and Gavin Ryan’s life has been a hard roller coaster ride. They met in Bali, fell in love and married 6 months later. However, their happiness was not to last, as only three months later she found a lump on one breast. In mid 2013, Fey was diagnosed with breast cancer and ever since life has been a hard long road for both of them. Never ending medical and alternative treatments, medications, supplements, different kinds of diet, the list never ends. They have been fighting with all they have; physically, mentally, and financially.
In 2014 Fey and Gavin moved to Sydney from Bali so Fey could get better treatment and Gavin could be closer to his art projects. They lived with Gavin’s aging aunty and uncle to save money, so in between chemo and radiation treatments, Fey did the chores around the house, and especially gave care to Gavin’s aunty who was 89 and had difficulty walking and looking after herself. In 2015, they moved to Woodford, Queensland as Gavin got the job as the artist in residence for the Woodford festival and they have been living there ever since.
Despite the cancer, Fey feels grateful that life wasn’t always bad for her during the last 5 years. The cancer stays but there had been good and bad days. Sometimes Fey feels she is on top of the world, and that she feels she is able to beat the cancer, but things often get so bad that she feels frustrated as she doesn’t know what else she could do to rid herself of it. However most of the time she tries her best to stay positive and keep her hopes up.
Within the last 3 months, things are going downhill and her doctor has confirmed that she is now in terminal stages of metastatic breast cancer and the only medical treatment given is to help Fey feel more comfortable. Because Fey is a fighter, she still wants to search and try more treatments, wishes to join a healing retreat, and is positive that there is still a chance to get better. She said she may be hitting the rock bottom now, but she will rise and bounce back up.
Please help Fey to get herself back and to keep Fey and Gavin’s hope up. For those who had a chance to know her, they know what an amazing person she is; someone who can’t say no to other people in distress, who always tries to help others before herself.
Fey wishes to be able to fund one of her sisters to come to Australia to look after her as in her current condition, it is impossible for her to give herself proper care, while Gavin has to work to support her.
This crowd funding is run with the hope that it will help to reduce Fey and Gavin’s financial stress caused by the ongoing treatment, to try more treatments, to help her with her daily ongoing expenses, to fund her sister or a care giver to look after her, to remind them that there’s always hope, and that they are not alone. Any amount you can spare, no matter how small, would be much appreciated. Please help to get a little dignity back into their life.
I hope things will turn around for Fey and Gavin. Thank you.
Praying for you dear fey. Stay strong and positive.sending love and big hugs
