When we announced our Australian tour in January 2018, we wanted it to be about more than music, we wanted it to be about something bigger, which is why we explored the option of raising money for charity. We originally considered supporting a children’s charity, but after some lengthy deliberation we chose mental health. There are a number of reasons for this. As teachers we have become acutely aware of the high incidence of anxiety amongst children today. This is a growing problem, which seems to show no signs of slowing down. Additionally statistics reveal that at least four million Australians are affected each year, either directly or indirectly, from mental illness. We wanted to be part of the growing movement which seeks to destigmatise mental illness and reveal what it truly is, an illness like any other, no more no less.
We are only at the very beginning of our journey, but we firmly believe that the impact of supporting SANE Australia and other mental health charities will provide enormous benefit to society for generations to come. Throughout this year our band the Fabulous Lemon Drops will be touring throughout Australia. We intend to perform around 200 concerts taking our music to each and every state, and collecting money for SANE Australia on our way.
