I have started this fundraising campaign on behalf of some close family friends who also happen to be my neighbours.
On Saturday the 3rd of March 2018, life for the Cooper family changed. Aaron and Christal Cooper’s beautiful little 15 week old baby girl Faith, became unwell so they took her to their GP where an ambulance was called and she was rushed straight to the Toowoomba Base hospital where she was diagnosed with Group B Strep meningitis and sepsis and has now taken on the fight of her life.
Unfortunately today Faith has taken a turn for the worst and has had a number of seizures and instability with her heart rate. The hospital has conducted X-rays and she will be going for an MRI scan later today to investigate if there is any brain damage. Tomorrow she will go to Brisbane to have a picc line inserted then return to the Toowoomba Hospital.
For the immediate future it is imperative that Faith has the strength of her family by her side especially her two parents. She is expected to remain in hospital for quite a few months just for treatment alone and Faiths road to recovery will be long and hard with possible long term damage including eplilepsy, loss of hearing, loss of sight and brain damage.

This is a young beautiful and hard working family who have had a strong connection over many years with our local Horse racing industry. Christal is a stay at home Mum to Faith and her 3 older brothers and Aaron is a farrier by trade who is self employed doing track/stable work on top of his farrier work. Understandably Aaron is currently unable to work as he needs to be by his daughters side and be there for his wife and 3 boys.

Faith’s three older brothers are all school aged and luckily they have the support of loving family including Aaron’s Mum and friends to help ensure these boys can maintain as normal of a routine as possible and not miss out on the emotional care they need and schooling during this tough time. Christal’s Mum is even making her way over from New Zealand to offer her support at such a hard time.

All of your donations will go directly to Christal and Aaron and their family to help cover the ever-growing financial costs associated with Faiths treatment and rehabilitation which at this point is unknown and will continue to increase as time goes on. You generous donations will also allow Aaron to be there for his family without the financial burden or stress of being unable to work and provide for them.

Any donation not matter how small will make a huge difference. Even if you skip your weekly coffee and donate $5 it will all add up and go to an amazing young family who really need our help.

I’d also like to ask people to share this campaign as the more people who share it, the more people we will reach.

I know that Aaron, Christal and their family really appreciate your support and help.

UPDATE: Faith has now been flown to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane as she took a turn for the worse yesterday. Both her parents are by her side and Aaron is unable to work as he needs to be there with his daughter and wife. This family is self employed and does not receive benefits. They now have no income coming in so we really need you guys to dig deep. Thank you all xxx

UPDATE: We were able to up to the Hospital this morning to visit little Faith. It was so good to see her and she is doing well and although she doesn’t have any hearing she could see us and knew that we were there. She is such a strong little fighter and hopefully her treatment over the next few weeks go really well for her. Once again I just want to thank everyone for the generosity and support that they have shown Faith and her family over this past week and ask if you can continue to share her story with your family and friends.

UPDATE: Little Faith was transported by ambulance back to Toowoomba Hospital today where if things go well she will stay for the next 3 weeks. She is on anti seizure medication which seems to be working. After her treatment in 3 weeks she will have another MRI to check for any brain scarring and a hearing test as she currently has no hearing. She is continuing to make small improvements however she isn’t out of the woods yet and it will be sometime until they know the extent of any long term damage or impairments and determine any ongoing treatment or rehabilitation that may be required.
Faith’s family are overwhelmed and extremely grateful for all of the love and support that they have received from so many people. All the money that we raise allows Aaron to take time off work to be with his daughter as well as be there for his wife and the three boys.

Just received an update from Faith’s parents and the Brisbane team are happy with the EEG results from yesterday and her current bloods so have made the decision to transfer her back to the Toowoomba Base hospital for ongoing treatment so that they can be closer to home and Toowoomba has the resources to provide the care she needs. They are currently in the process of trying to coordinate this transfer with the Toowoomba medical staff.

Faith has started on medication to try control the seizures and will need to have more MRIs done at some stage to check for damage or scarring of the brain and she may end up needing hearing tests done. Please continue to share guys and show your support.

UPDATE: yesterday Faith underwent surgery to have a picc line inserted and that all went well. She also had an EEG test conducted on her brain which we will know more about the results later on today. Christal’s Mum has arrived over from New Zealand to help out with their other children. I ask everyone to keep sharing this page so that we can reach more people and get as much support for this family that we can. Thank you

Thank you so much to everyone who has already made a donation or shared this fundraising page. I wanted to give a quick update as unfortunately Faith’s MRI didn’t come back very good at all tonight. The MRI found that the infection is attacking Faith’s brain and that some sections have limited blood supply so they are flying her down to Brisbane tonight to Lady Cilento’s Children’s Hospital.
