Sex trafficking in Nepal is an endemic problem. Girls as young as 12 years old are forced into the sex trade and left broken and penniless. As an example in the last year and a half about 13,000 women and children from Nepal have been victims of trafficking to other countries. Their number has increased by 60 percent compared to the previous year. in 2016 we raised an incredible $14,990 that was used to support CapNepal and two of the families of Sherpas who were killed in avalanches whilst climbing with Western Mountaineers. We are seeking funds to continue to support the work of CapNepal. They currently provide short term emergency shelter for young woman. Unfortunately they are unable to house anyone beyond 3 year term. As you can imagine rescuing a child aged under 5 is an incredible thing to do but telling her at 8 years old that she cannot stay within the short term shelter due to Nepals laws is heartbreaking. We would like to be able to assist CapNepal to open a long term shelter to help these children. All money raised will go direct to CapNepal. A little about CapNepal...it is based in Kathmandu where its primary aim is to emancipate women and girls from gender based violence and discrimination; to rescue and prohibit the trafficking of women and children and to reform cultural malpractices. CAP Nepal also works to abolish commercial sexual and labor exploitation of women and children. CAP Nepal’s goal is to equip each and every woman and girl that enters their programs to become economically self-reliant. It seeks to work toward the abolition of gender based inequalities. Its goal is to provide equal rights and privileges to the deprived women of Nepal by taking several reformatory measures such as providing free education, vocational training, enrichment and empowerment workshops, meditation and self reliant courses, shelter and alternative job placement. To that end, CAP Nepal provides services that lend to the rehabilitation and reintegration of minors into society by starting the healing process with free psychological counseling, legal counseling and free education and so on. CAP Nepal also provides assistance to destitute women via maternal & child healthcare programs, thereby improving the quality of life for the women of this forgotten segment of society. CAP strives to help women achieve liberty and emancipation.
