In November last year, Mick Power (Dave’s Cousin’s Husband) was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma (GBM4) - an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Mick and his wife Suzie have three kids (Claire 8, Jackson 7 and Henry 5). Mick is self-employed and Suzie had resigned from her job to look after a lovely foster baby and only recently has gone back to casual work. This means they are faced with some difficult decisions, due to the financial strain. It is looking likely they will need to sell their home. Mick and Suzie really want to keep things as normal as possible for the kids (and themselves). They hope to be able to stay living in the same area and keep the kids at their primary school.
To help raise money for them, Dave has organised an overnight hike along the entire length of Merri Creek; from Dights Falls in Yarra Bend to the source of the creek in Heathcote Junction. This is around 65km and will be achieved over two days from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th March 2018. Dave will create a separate thread for those interested in completing the walk. Contact Dave if you would like to be added to this thread.
All donations will be transferred to Mick and Suzie at the conclusion of the hike and will go towards treatments, ongoing medical expenses and everyday living costs, that have become much harder due to the circumstances.
Every little bit helps and if you are able to donate, we thank you very much x
You’re impressive, team!
