About Western District Health Service:
Western District Health Service (WDHS) is one of Victoria’s leading rural and regional healthcare providers, delivering a range of high quality health services.
Located in Victoria’s Western District, WDHS delivers quality healthcare to a resident population of 16,200 people, approximately 9,800 who live in Hamilton, the geographic and business hub of the region.
Murray to Moyne teams and supporters will be raising funds primarily to support the $1.8million redevelopment of the cancer treatment and dialysis facility at Hamilton Base Hospital.
Currently cancer patients have to travel large distances to receive treatment, taking them away from their homes and families and adding to an already extremely stressful time.
Recent statistics show that the number of cancer diagnoses in the Southern Grampians is increasing much higher than in other parts of the region and state.
The redevelopment is being entirely funded by fundraising events, bequests and public donations.
