In rural Andhra Pradesh, South India, agriculture is the main source of income for most people who are amongst the poorest in India. Due to prolonged drought and climate change, as well as past poor farming practices, the land is dry and degraded. Many farmers are no longer able to make a living for their families. The shame of not being able to provide for their families is leading to high rates of farmer suicide. Some farmers are forced to sell their land to large agriculture companies, who will continue unsustainable farming methods and further destroy the land.

Partners In Aid is working with local NGO in India, SEDS (Social Education and Development Society), who have 30 years of experience working in this area. To support farmers and their communities, SEDS have operated a Low Carbon Farming (LCF) project since 2012. Unfortunately on the 28th February 2018 the funding for this project runs out.

How the LCF project addresses this problem;

1. We train farmers to create highly effective pesticides and fertilizers out of natural products that improve soil quality, produce more crops and allow them to stay on their land and provide for their families

2. We create highly sustainable low carbon farms that put carbon back into the soil where it is not a threat to our planet. Also help farmers to apply for and collect carbon credits from the UNFCCC as an additional income source for their families.

We urgently need your help to raise $10,500 in order to keep the program running beyond February 2018 and help farmers stay on their land.

90% of all donations through Partners in Aid go directly to our projects, meaning the majority of your dollars go towards action. For Australians, donating to this campaign is eligible as a tax deduction.
