Shimmy Mob Maitland Hunter Valley celebrates World Belly Dance Day raising funds for Carrie's Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc. We are co-hosting a fundraising Hafla on 26th May 2018 (venue tba.) All welcome-an informal evening of dance, drumming, supper & friendship All funds going to Carrie's Place- see Facebook page for more details. We perform a flash mob belly dance style choreography around the Hunter, on Sat 12th May performing at Kurri Kurri Community Markets, Maitland Levee precinct, Organic Feast & finish in the Morpeth precinct. Last year we joined with 2370 other dancers from 202 cities in 8 countries around the world performing the same dance under the banner of Shimmy Mob raising funds for their local shelters. This year we are joined by a travelling contingent of our dance sisters from Tamworth- we welcome them & hope to have some fun ! Please help us raise funds for this worthy cause.
Carrie’s Place provides a range of culturally appropriate programs for people experiencing domestic and family violence, and/or homelessness. We employ highly qualified workers with specialist skills who provide case management and court advocacy, to assist people to move forward with their lives.
