Raising funds for: Mazeri Primary School, Republic of Georgia (Caucasus)
The Georgian School Project Story A collaboration between Australia and The Republic of Georgia. After a visitation to the far northern region of Georgia in 2016 “The Georgian School Project” was an initiative of Alan Stephens & Dr Joseph Jordania to raise money to provide funds that will: 1) enable the Mazeri primary school to connect a water supply to the school 2) support a music program at the school, 3) provide assistance with basic school stationery and the writing of memoirs of Givi Tserediani, an elderly teacher of the school who, in his time, was a world famous mountain climber and a Georgian national hero, as well as a local hero to the school and it’s local community. The Mazeri community has little resources and needs assistance to ensure these projects go ahead. The Music program has been initiated and can be viewed on the Facebook page. Dr Joseph Jordania, originally a native of Georgia and now residing in Melbourne, has for many years been pivotal in the development of Georgian singing in Australia. This Project was initiated by Alan Stephens of Australian a cappella group, Men in Suits - http://www.meninsuits.com.au) Primary Supporters: Men in Suits - www.meninsuits.com.au Melbourne Georgian Choir—Australia - www.melbournegeorgianchoir.com The Boite - www.boite.com.au

Appreciation to Ambassador for Georgia (Australia) - The Ambassador for Georgia assisted at short notice and arranged for the Honorary Consul for Georgia (Victoria) to attend the recent Concert in his absence. Men in Suits is very grateful to the the Ambassaor for acknowledging and supporting the Georgian School Project and, the many contributors to it's continuing success at this particular occasion for raising funds for a Georgian cause. We understand, with more notice, he would like to attend the next concert to personally express his appreciation to all concerned. When I spoke to Ekaterine Chokheli at the Embassy, she acknowledged both Nino and Joseph extremely warmly and said they also wanted to acknowledge Nino's and Joseph's wonderful contributions at the Australian event for a Georgian cause. Address of the Ambassador of Georgia, HE Mr. George Dolidze for “Concert for Georgia” Dear guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, It is my utmost pleasure and honor to address distinguished audience attending the concert dedicated to Georgia, and its particularly beautiful region, mountainous Svaneti. I am grateful to the organizers of the event and my special thanks goes to the Men in Suits and Scott Cook. Your efforts to support Georgian School Project and in Particular Mazeri School are extremely helpful. It is particularly fascinating that people in Australia, in such a remote place from Georgia think of and support my country. In that respect, I would like to extend special gratitude to Mr. Alan Stephens and Mr. Joseph Jordania who initiated the “Georgian School Project”. I would like to particularly outline Joseph Jordania’s contribution to preserving Georgian culture. Together with his wife, Nino, he still keeps Georgian spirit alive in distant Australia through Georgian singing and promoting traditional polyphony. Once again dear audience I would like to highlight that I appreciate this truly fascinating undertaking by Men in Suits and Scott Cook. I value your resolve and determination and I truly admire your activities to support this cause. The vivid manifestation of standing side-by-side gives me confidence that world will change for better. I wish you successful concert. George Dolidze Ambassador of Georgia

Men in Suits another benefit concert for Mazeri Primary School in Georgia. Scott Cook is a roots balladeer with a rare personal warmth, Canada’s Scott Cook has managed to distil the stories collected over a decade of near-incessant touring across Canada, the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia into straight-talking, keenly observant verse. Road-worn, painfully honest, and deeply human, his tunes weave folk, roots, blues, soul and country with spacious fingerstyle guitar and clawhammer banjo arrangements. He’s currently touring in support of his fourth release, One More Time Around, which was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award. Its opening track “Pass It Along” won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest, with UK magazine Maverick Country naming him “One of Canada’s most inspiring and imaginative storytellers”. Cook is one of the hardest-working DIY troubadours on the road today, averaging over 160 gigs and ten festivals a year. All the hard miles notwithstanding, he still believes that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world. Men in Suits will open the concert with their eclectic repertoire of songs that will continue to surprise and entertain you. Profits raised from the concert will be donated to the Primary school in Mazeri Georgia. The association with this school came about through a visit to Georgia by some members of Men in Suits and our association with Joseph Jordania a music director who occasionally directs the group and who introduced the group to the unique Georgian sound. The funds raised help promote a music program at the school as well as having provided funds to provide running water to the school. We hope to see you there!

A very worthwhile cause. It is known music training helps children develop fine motor skills, emotional maturation and behavioural maturation. Besides that, it is fun!
