Sharone Watson's Healthy Body Campaign

If I could tell you anything about my mother Sharone it's that she is a survivor.

She's been through much more in life than any one person deserves to go through. Yet, she's still one of the most supportive, loving, kind and positive people I've ever met.

Recently, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery to remove the cancerous growths and then was going through the pre-chemo checks before discovering that she had had a heart attack without realizing and needed to have open heart surgery.

Throughout all of this, our family was rightly emotional and a little overwhelmed.

As a person who likes to help fix things, I was at a loss for what I could personally do to help out. Thankfully, my education allowed and is continuing to allow me to be able to work from the hospital or at my parent's place to help support them.

But it doesn't feel like enough.

I thought about starting a fundraiser when my mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer, to give back to the Cancer Council who provide exceptional care to those going through cancer treatment. After the heart surgery, however, the thought of heart care has come more into mind.

Additionally, I've watched my dad struggle with the decision between staying with my mum, or going to work to continue making money to fund some of the out-of-pocket medical expenses.

That's why I wanted to start this campaign.

I want to raise funds for 2 causes that have become close to my heart as of late: cancer and hearts. Additionally, I want to help try and support my dad to make the decision to take time off of work a little easier.

That's why I'm raising money through this page (and hopefully through some other campaigns and chocolate selling along the way) for:

1. The Cancer Council
2. The Cabrini Foundation
3. My parents: who deserve as much support as we can give them at the moment and would never in a million years think to ask for the help of their friends and family. [This is labelled as "Lauren Watson" because the funds are being banked to me and I will forward them along to my parents]

* The Cabrini Foundation was requested by my mum due to the outstanding care that she received there over the course of her heart surgery and recovery.

You can decide which arm of the cause you want to donate to, or spread your donation across all 3!

*Updated 06/12/17* Anything from now that goes to "Lauren Watson" will be sent directly to my parents, please consider also donating to the other two charities separately by donating to one, two or all 3 options.
