Help Xavier Grady Formica Learn To Walk and fund his Medicinal Cannabis

Xavier has a very high level cerebral palsy, where he cannot walk unassisted, talk, chew food or move freely. He also has refractory epilepsy, a very rare version where he has not just had seizures nearly everyday for the last 8 years but at his worst nearly 12,000 in a single 7 month period a few years ago.

Xavier is 1 of the 1st in W.A. to be approved for Medicinal Cannabis but it costs up to $4,500 per month ongoing as the W.A. government is the only state in Australia not to fund the cost for the kids that need it the most. We went through a 8 month drawn out process to finally get the approval then to be told of the cost. With Xavier's seizures getting worse again, we had hoped that this would be the medicine that would finally get his seizures under control like so many other kids in his position worldwide using medicinal cannabis. Xavier has tried 14 different medicines over the last 8 years and all have failed to control his epilepsy making him the unlucky 1% of epileptics.

About 2 years ago Xavier took his very 1st step at 7 years old and this is something we did not know would ever happen.

November 2016 as you can see in the video link Xavier broke his record where he took 100 steps and if you forward to 3.15 minutes you can see over the next 30 seconds he truly knows what he achieved!!

Since then we have doubled therapy and he has reached 200 steps. Over the next year we hope to get that to 500 with all the new equipment and therapy that has been organised.

The more therapy and equipment the faster Xavier will reach his potential.

As you can see it’s not small change summing nearly $50,000 and still not close to everything we need for Xavier to have the best chance of walking one day, something we all take for granted.

The $35,000 we are trying to raise with this "My Cause" page will finish paying for the NAPA clinic therapy, a new insert for his home chair and physio for the next few months and get him started on the Medicinal Cannabis.

The NAPA therapy is something we have dreamed about being able to give Xavier but they are a US based clinic that is coming to Perth so up until now it has been impossible. He will get 45 hours of therapy over 3 weeks which is about 6 to 8 months normally.

We want to give him more therapy before this so he gets the most out of the NAPA clinic but then also give him extra sessions after they leave to really capitalise on what he has gone through.

It does not matter if he is tired, sick or getting over seizures as he never gives up at his Physio classes. He has proven to all that have seen him in one that he is a true champion and he gets all he can out of each session and indirectly every cent worth people invest into him.
