Busk for a Cure is an annual charity music festival. Last year, we had 50 artists performing across 5 locations in Newtown, raising just over $3000 for the Cancer Council NSW and Crohn’s & Colitis Australia. This year we are taking to the streets of Newtown on May 26, and need your support!
Busk for a Cure is about everyday Australians contributing to the fight against cancer in a transparent and fun way. It’s genuine entertainment that’s cool, edgy, and urban, and we want you to have such a great time listening to local talent that you’re just enjoying the experience, rather than dwelling on the gravity of the issues we support. We also proudly give 100% of donations straight to charity - we don’t take a cent. All operating and marketing costs are covered by volunteers and sponsors.
Helmut Uhlmann founded Busk for a Cure in July 2014 as a way of combining his love of music and entrepreneurship with a cause that was embedded deep within his heart. After battling cancer for ten years, Helmut’s mother passed away from metastasised endometrial cancer in August 2015. The struggle his family went through resonates with countless Australians, who have encountered the tragedy of cancer either directly or indirectly.
