I plan to ride 58km from Engadine in South Sydney to Wollongong on November 5th. The event is called MS Gong Ride (https://www.msgongride.org.au) and organised by Multiple Sclerosis Australia which I feel is a great cause to raise money for and half the money raised will go towards helping sufferers of this disease of the central nervous system. The other half of the money raised will go to cause close to me, Men's Mental Health Charity 'Mr Perfect'(https://www.mrperfect.org.au). We all know someone who has either suffered with Mental Health problems or have family or friends who are suffering. Too many lose their battle with Mental Health. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50. For that to change, the stigma of mental illness must be challenged. Mr Perfect is changing that in Australia. Providing an open and grassroots charity that facilitates conversation and connection in a supportive and inclusive environment. Since then I have worked with Mr Perfect as a Designer and now I manage the MR PFC Futsal team. MR PFC is a an affiliated partner football club to Mr Perfect (Mental Health's Mate) Charity. I started playing for MR PFC when I was having a tough time at work and it provided me an outlet to exercise and play football with a group of supportive guys once a week that helped me battle the stresses of work. It really was helpful to me, as are many other initiatives Mr Perfect do. A key line from Mr Perfect's website is "Like many men, our founder realised he was not Mr. Perfect. As he shared his story with others, they felt comfortable to do the same for the first time. Mr. Perfect was born". I believe what Terry and the team at Mr Perfect are helping a lot of guys.
