Sadly on 2nd May 2017, our beautiful baby boy Dexter Charles Reynolds was born sleeping at 19 weeks. His death came from nowhere, 24 hours prior Victoria had felt the fluttering of his tiny body. It felt like our world ended, even though we were already blessed with two incredible children.
At a time when our lives had been thrown into utter chaos and unexpected decisions had to be made, we were given the option of placing Dexter in a Cuddle Cot, for him to stay with us until it was time to say goodbye.
Because of the Cuddle Cot the hospital provided, the time we had with Dexter allowed us to grieve, admire his beauty, cuddle and kiss our boy. It essentially allowed us to bond with him, similar to a non-angel baby.
For Dexter to stay with us, he needed to stay cool from birth to keep his condition stable. The cot works by placing a cold mat under the cot sheets allows cooling of the baby whilst surrounded by family in a comforting environment.
Having been able to experience the Cuddle Cot and in memory of Dexter, we would like to raise money to buy a Cuddle Cot, a blanket and some sheets for a local hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, Melbourne, where it is needed. The donation of the cot will allow more families, thrown into a horrendous and heartbreaking situation like us to spend precious time with their angel babies.
We welcome support with our fundraising that we shall be doing over the coming months. Alternatively you can provide a cash donation by either contacting Victoria and Nathan directly or using the link below.
