A Wagging Tail, a Wet Nose and a Guide to LIFE!
Imagine that you are imprisoned, imprisoned in a place without bars and without walls. Imprisoned in a place in which you are the only inmate, a place in which you have been condemned, yet you have not committed any crime, nor are you a danger to the community, and in fact in many cases your only sin was that in some way you actually added to society either by selfless acts or confounding dangers that others would, and could not face.
This is the fate of 1,000’s of Australians face every day, Australians who suffer of PTSD and other debilitating mental disorders.
Now imagine there is a way that you can escape this mental bondage, and this escape key takes the form of wet nose and a wagging tail. A service dog dedicated to its owner/sufferer and committed to enable that person to break free from the confinements of that mental prison, enabling them to resume their normal life and again connect with both family and society in a meaning full way.
We need your help to free these people.
We are raising $15,000 to take two sufferers of PTSD Trooper Ryan a, Afghanistan veteran, and his companion Yogi and Nyssa to Japan to exchange knowledge and observe how Japanese suffers and their service dogs deal with this universal challenge.
Our primary aim is that by experiencing the differences in approaches to mental isolation we hope to explore alternative strategies in which the role of the service dog can be enhanced. Our secondary aim to expand the awareness of the role that service dogs provide both domestically and internationally to the general public, an awareness that the selfless roles dogs play in our lives transcend that of the guide dog assumption that the vast majority of the population hold on to.
On behalf of Yogi, and Nyssa we would like to THANK YOU for your listening and your assistance.
